I’m a 5th generation Austin Native, and I have seen our city change time and time again. I know where Austin came from and I remain curious about where Central Texas is going.
I come from a lineage in Central Texas with roots woven throughout the historical fabric of Austin. Now popular Mattie’s Restaurant, Green Pastures was originally my grandmother, Anne Faulk’s childhood home in South Austin. My grandfather, Bill McAfee, married her there and owned a printing company on South Congress called Futura that for decades printed The Texas Observer. If you’re ever in south Austin, give Mattie’s Restaurant a try, and be sure to read about the history while you’re there.
I grew up playing music in Austin and spent my 20’s tuning and repairing pianos in the Austin Central Texas area. Working with the piano in this way opened the door to the many diverse layers of our great city and served as a unique opportunity to learn about the many people, old and new, who live here.
Over the years I have observed the evolution of Austin and Central Texas. While in some ways it’s not the place I remember growing up in, it very much is in the ways that matter most. When I finally got around to starting a family of my own, it became time to learn about the real estate market here in Austin.
